Is it the same as Khan Academy or a practice platform?
No. ParentMap doesn't teach content or replace a tutor. It's a diagnostic tool: it tells you with precision what grade your child is at per subject, their strengths and gaps, with an actionable starting point. How you move forward — curriculum, private classes, practice, method — you choose based on what already works for your family.
Is it really free?
Yes. One full subject, 30 minutes, no credit card. You pick which subject to evaluate first. If you want to evaluate the other 4 subjects later, there's a paid plan — but the first one is yours forever.
How long does it take?
Around 30 minutes. 24 questions adapted to your child's age. No timer, you can pause and come back anytime.
What ages is it for?
From 4 to 18 years old. The test automatically adapts to the expected grade for your child's age (preK through 12th grade).
What happens to my child's data?
We comply with Colombia's Ley 1581 and COPPA. We don't sell data. We don't show ads. You can delete all your family's information with one click from Settings.
Does it work if we're just starting homeschool?
Especially if you're just starting. It gives you a clear starting point: where your child is today per subject and what they still need to master. It's the first piece of clarity to stop guessing and start the year calmly.
What if my child is ahead of grade level?
Even better — the test tells you exactly how many grades ahead and in which areas, so you know what content to give them without boring them. It's normal for a homeschool child to be 1-2 grades ahead in some subjects and on-level in others.
I already did an assessment last year. Is it worth repeating?
Yes — an assessment from 6-12 months ago no longer reflects where they are today. Homeschool children progress fast (or stall) and this is the quickest way to see what changed, without paying a specialist.
Can my 5-year-old do it?
Yes. Questions automatically adapt to their age. For children 4-7, there are automatic breaks every 5 questions and instructions are designed so an adult can read them aloud. Your child doesn't need to read to start.
